GDPR turned one year old - therefore, Europe's new privacy rules were on everyone's mind in Brussels and beyond. At the official stock taking event of GDPR, Commissioner Jourová highlighted the role of Codes of Conduct - corresponding, the European Data Protection Board released and adopted the final version of the guidelines on Codes of Conduct and Monitoring Bodies. Also, the SWIPO (cloud swichting/porting data) working group makes significant progress and initiated a call for applications to parties interested in hosting SWIPO as a legal entity.

Guidelines on CoCs adopted
The European Data Protection Board adopted their guidelines on Codes of Conduct and Monitoring Bodies under GDPR. We participated in the respective public consultation beforehand.
GDPR: Taking stock in the EU
The European Commission organized a stock taking event, evaluating the adoption of Europe's new privacy laws after one year GDPR. In her intervention, Commissioner Vera Jourová also highlighted the importance and the role of Codes of Conduct in the context of the application of GDPR.
Cloud Stakeholder in Amsterdam
On 12-13 June, the DSM Cloud Stakeholder met in Amsterdam and achieved further milestones in the context of the SWIPO working group as well as the working group on Cloud security certification.
SWIPO: Call for applications
The SWIPO (cloud switching/porting data) working group evaluates if existing legal entities on the market would be capable and equipped to host current and possible future Codes, based on an already established common governance.
