The Geodata Code of Conduct

The Data Protection Code for Geodata Services  sets out, in a comprehensive manner, the obligations of service providers and the rights of consumers in relation to geo-referenced image material captured from the street side. It applies exclusively within the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany. The Code protects informational self-determination and ensures a high level of data protection. In doing so, it promotes acceptance of those services that make image material available in accordance with the Code.

Scope of Application

The scope of the Code covers the provision of image material captured from the street side within the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany. Our Service Register shows which services are bound by the Geodata CoC.

Obligations

Where a service provider submits a service to the Geodata CoC, it must, in compliance with data protection requirements, fulfil a range of obligations when offering that service. These obligations are laid down in the Code and are divided into four categories. The individual obligations are briefly outlined below and can be consulted in full in the Code. LINK
